Precious Parking on Moving Day! |
3 Critical Things To Reserve Before Moving Day
There are so many details to remember when you're planning your move. You get bogged down in the all the minutiae that you might forget some important things you need to reserve for the day of your move, especially if you live in a metropolitan area like Washington DC.
What do you need to need to reserve asap for your move?
- Elevator: If you are in a building that requires you to use an elevator, you will likely need to reserve this for the day of your move. Talk to your building manager or concierge to make sure all the details are confirmed.
- Loading Dock: If you need access to a building's loading dock for the moving truck, then be sure to reserve it with your building manager or concierge.
- Parking Spots: If you live in an urban area and you don't have your own garage or designated parking space, you may need to reserve a parking spot area in front of your residence. This is usually done at your local police station by showing your residential ID in advance. They will record the date you are permitted to post manual signs to prohibit other drivers from parking in that area. You will need to post them a few days in advance to provide enough warning to your neighbors. Note: If you don't secure this in advance, double-parking could cause a problem for your movers or if they need to park too far away this will extend the length of your move and cost you more in the end. If your in DC, you can reserve your parking spot online!
If you encounter any issues with securing the above on your moving date, you may need to reschedule your moving date. Just make sure everything is aligned!
