Moving Can Be Stressful, Right?
Moving doesn’t mean only taking care of your household or office furniture and boxes. You need to take care of yourself too. Let’s face it, moving is one of the biggest stressors that we experience in life. So we need to take care of not only our stuff, but of ourselves during the process. Here are just a few reminders of how to take care of all that stuff and you.
What are a few moving tips to remember?
Schedule your move with as much notice as possible.
Purging/recycling before you move (who wants to keep moving around old stuff you don’t need?).
Pack your boxes well, labeling each so you know what is in them.
Prepare an essentials bag for your moving day (overnight bag, medication, phone charger, snacks, water, scissors, cleaning supplies, paper towels, shower curtain and bedding so you can shower and crash immediately).
What is self care during a move?
Spread out your packing: set a timer and pack for an hour each day.
Hydrate regularly, preferably water.
Eat healthy and on time (you don’t want to get cranky or pass out!)
De-stress: take walks, exercise, meditate, etc.
If you have an acute or chronic illness, don’t be shy about mentioning this during scheduling and also reminding us on site. It is quite helpful in understanding any special needs you may require in advance.
Ask your family members and friends for help, as long as it is safe to do so with social distancing. You will be surprised who will help for one hour.
Communicate with your circle. It helps to feel connected, even for a few minutes.
