A Movers Guide to Moving in Together
So you’ve been together for a while now, and you think you are ready for the next step. It's always exciting to move a happy couple from separate digs into a common dwelling. It's also a little scary when one person has to secretly hire us to move them out of the space in order to hide from any breakup drama. We've actually seen this difficult move occur more often than you think. We at Mic’s Moving may not be relationship experts to keep a couple together but we think we've spotted a few tips to help that moving process go smoothly.
Tips for Moving Two into a 1 Bedroom Apartment or House...
- Make sure the new bedroom is large enough. You will have to fit twice as much stuff, so before you start packing, start trashing or donating clothing and furniture you do not need.
- Start searching on places like Craigslist or Zillow for rental properties. You want to be able to understand what a fair price is for a one bedroom apartment in D.C.
- Take into consideration both your commutes to work. Try to land a house that works for both work situations.
- Take inventory of both of your apartments. Most likely you will have duplicate items (dressers,TVs, mirrors). Now is the time to sell them on Facebook marketplace. If you can't sell it, Mic's moving can donate those items to A Wider Circle and get you a tax write off.
