How to Get DC Parking Permits for Your Move with Mic's Moving
Securing a parking permit in DC is an important step to ensure your move goes smoothly. DC Parking Permits can be obtained
here. Here’s how to get it done:
- Set Up an Account: If it’s your first time applying for a permit, click “Register” on the permit portal. If you’ve applied before, simply log in with your existing credentials.
- Choose the Right Application: For most residential moves, select "homeowner," "tenant," or "individual." Avoid "business/organization" unless it applies to you.
- Apply for a Permit: Once registered, select "Parking/Occupancy Permit." Be sure to avoid selecting "Commercial Vehicle Permit," as this option isn’t relevant to our trucks and can lead to unnecessary delays.
- Pick the Right Permit Type: Choose “Apply for Parking Signs/Temporary Occupancy Permits,” then select “Moving Truck.” Enter and confirm your address details.
- Reserve All Day: When selecting your start time and date, we recommend reserving the space for the entire day. Even if your move is only scheduled for a part of the day, this added flexibility can prevent issues and save time.
- Space Requirements: Each parking space is considered 22 feet. For a 16-foot truck, reserve at least 2 spaces (35 feet), and for a 26-foot truck, go for 3 spaces (55 feet). Keep in mind, the system might require you to reserve 4 spaces—it’s okay! The extra room can help avoid interference from other vehicles and ensure a smooth move.
