After graduating from the University of Kentucky—Go Cats!—I returned to Chevy Chase, Maryland, and began working for a local moving company in DC. I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed it; it hardly felt like a job at all. I got a fantastic workout alongside friends, and I was being paid for it—what a great deal!

Not long after, I started feeling the pressure to enter the corporate world. So, I gave in and followed the crowd of young college graduates willing to take any available entry-level “corporate job." This was during the recession, so landing an entry-level position was particularly challenging. Fortunately, I managed to secure a role in the commercial loans department of a bank. While I was grateful for the employment, I found the work unfulfilling, confined to staring at a computer screen and inputting numbers like a machine.

After about six months of monotonous busy work, I grew increasingly paranoid that a robot would someday take my place. This anxiety, combined with a desire to break free from the ordinary, inspired me to start Mic’s Moving. I rallied a group of friends to tackle local moves in the back of my pickup truck. After approximately a thousand successful moves, I saved enough to purchase a larger box truck and establish a legitimate licensed and insured moving company.

Thanks to my exceptional team of movers and our fantastic customers, I relish my job every day. I’m happy to be doing what I love, offering personalized, affordable, and professional service—from the moment someone submits a moving request until they are comfortably settled in their new home.

I take immense pride in the family business we've built at Mic's Moving. With the support of many around me, especially our dedicated crew members who have been with us for years, we've created a thriving moving company. My vision is to continue growing the business in order to provide long-term career opportunities for our committed employees and to help facilitate the moving process throughout the DMV and beyond.
